Sylvie's Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Halasz celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this weekend! This photo of the happy couple is cribbed from Melissa's Uncle David's Facebook page...
1951... In addition to the Halasz nuptials, here are a few other things that happened that year:
The first color television images were broadcast (as a test only);
The average family income in the USA was $3700 (a gallon of gas cost $0.19);
President Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur;
The term "Rock and Roll" was coined by Alan Freed, a Cleveland disc jockey;
and, of course, the first nuclear bomb was tested in Nevada.
Syl is sorry we could not be there in Cleveland this weekend to help celebrate. She and her folks send our love and admiration.
Happy Anniversary, Grandma & Grandpa Halasz!
