A nice Father's Day

 

8th Grade Dance

 A rare sighting of our Syl in a dress... 

I was excited at the opportunity to braid her hair - though when she asked for a joined triple braid I got a little worried I wasn't up to the task. It worked out pretty well!

Sassy. And yes, she insisted on wearing shorts under the dress, and her black sneakers. But: progress! 

Syl has a really nice group of girl friends. They had a great time. Luckily, Syl was able to go to the dance "before" she had Covid. That's in quotes because she was definitely coughing, but she tested straight up negative. Truth be told, I think half the school had it by the end there. Luckily, none of them got too sick.

The house is almost done! Move in date is July 30. 

(July 30??? I’ve decided not to worry.)

Sylvie almost made it…

through middle school without getting Covid. Poor kiddo tested positive on the morning of the last day of 8th grade! She was really bummed about missing graduation, the clap out, and hanging out with her friends after school. But her friend Ashley picked up Syl’s yearbook for her, and her friends signed it, so she is excited to see what everyone wrote. I guess a fitting end to a really bizarre middle school experience. 

(And so far she’s doing fine! Bad cold and bored, but otherwise ok.) 

Summer evenings don't get nicer than this one

Living in History

 Last weekend Syl and I took advantage of a beautiful day to explore part of the Minuteman National Park. which is within easy biking distance of our house.

This meant getting out of our comfort zone (bike path) a little bit, and navigating some streets in the bustling metropolis of Concord, MA.

This is a replica where the Old North Bridge stood. This is the site of the "Shot Heard Round the World" that touched off the American Revolution. How cool is it that we biked here?
