Wine country ride
Headed about 45 minutes outside of Santa Barbara and did a 50 mile tour of locations from the movie "Sideways" in wine country. I don't recall the movie, but it sure was filmed in some beautiful locations!

Gibraltar Climb
It did occur to me halfway through this butt-kicker of a climb ride (full description here if you want to read it) that if I hadn't gotten cancer earlier this year I'd never be doing stuff like this, I'd still be carrying around 30 extra pounds and feeling crappy without knowing it, etc. I am not sure I believe that everything happens for a reason, but I am a big believer in silver linings. The view from the top of this climb, way above the clouds, was a great, shiny silver lining--as was the feeling of making it to the top without keeling over.
I said on Sunday that the Mt. Wachusett climb was the hardest thing I have ever done. That was true until today! This one was roughly three times as long... After an incredible massage from Aunt Naomi I am feeling way better tonight than I have any right to feel. We'll see if that lasts into tomorrow!

Casa Micheltorena
Our home for the week. It is 4:30 Pacific time. Our little girl has been awake since 11.45 pm YESTERDAY!! She is holding up like a champ, but the crash must surely be coming...
In the meantime, the house Melissa rented is gorgeous--especially the back yard.
