Many uses for stools

It's an age old fact of life: no matter how many toys a kid has, she'll fixate on something totally random as her favorite thing in the world.  For Sylvie, at least for this weekend, that "thing" is our kitchen stools.

On the trail with Dad

Sylvie took some time out of her busy schedule today to do a little campaigning with her Dad.  Mom came along too.  We all went to the Family Fun Day, at Stoddard Park, to watch the Mudville Baseball Club take on a motley crew of Holliston Firefighters, Police and a lot of kids.  

At one point Dad was asked to take the plate.  The Chair of our Board of Selectmen offered wise advice: "Remember when Obama tried to bowl?  This is not a good idea."  But Sylvie's Dad is stubborn.  Happily, he connected and made it in one piece around the bases.  Sadly, Syl and Mom were exploring the park and missed it!

Finally - We're back!!

Wow, what a time Syl's Dad has had with his computer.  Boil it down to this: if you have a Mac and you thought the new Time Capsule was the best you could do for a back up... think again.  Mine fried right along with my hard drive.  Happily, I had most of my video and all of my Sylvie photos backed up online.

But enough about my troubles.  Sorry for the long hiatus.  A lot has happened in the interim - Dad got a primary opponent, Grammy and Grampy visited, former Governor Weld came to campaign with Dad, Syl got a piano... a lot.

Technical difficulties

Our Mac had a bit of a meltdown this week and is "in the shop" for about a week. That means most of what I does - photos, video, etc. is not doable for the time-being. I'll keep you posted on anything major that might happen with Syl in the interim and hopefully we'll be up and running again soon...

Meet "Shrieky"!

Yesterday when Melissa picked up Syl at day care, the teacher said to Sylvie, "Hey Shrieky! Your mom is here!"

This cracks us up, seeing other people recognize Sylvie's cute little quirks. She didn't mean it as a criticism. Syl's new thing is shrieking at the top of her lungs when she is happy. She uses it interchangeably with laughter.

The teacher said she shrieks ALL DAY, which in a way is nice to hear because it says to us that she's happy ALL DAY too.

Off to the races

This past Saturday night was the first time Melissa and I left Sylvie overnight, while we went to a wedding in Newport, RI.   Luckily, she has great family near by.  Aunt Lia and Uncle Ben came to the  house and stayed with her, and by all accounts everyone had a great time.   On Sunday morning, Uncle Ben and Uncle Pat took Syl with them to cheer Aunt Lia on as she competed in a mini triathlon!  Sylvie loved every minute of it, as you can see in these photos.  Many more in the September gallery.

Catching up

Obviously I've fallen off in posting frequency lately.  That's partly to do with the fact that Syl and Melissa were away, and partly because my campaign has me running like a madman all of the time.   I'll be better though.  Here are a few good shots from Syl's Ohio adventure.  The rest are in the tail end of the August Gallery.

An eventful trip

Just about to head to the airport to get my girls, after they had an eventful few days visiting Syl's grandparents (and great grandparents) in Ohio.  Unfortunately, poor Grandma Halasz came down with a nasty stomach bug, and Aunt Amanda followed soon afterwards.  I'm told that Sylvie didn't let anyone else's discomfort get her down though!  Everyone is feeling better now - as am I, since I get to see my girls in about an hour!
