A final story

... a final photo, and they were on their way.

Syl and I brought Grammy and Grampy to the airport today, ending a fun week.  On the way  home Sylvie said, "I'm sad that 'cuz there's no one in the back seat with me!"

Waiting on his cast

Visitors and Visited

Both in the same day.

This morning we journeyed to Longmeadow, MA to visit my Aunt Ann, Uncle Ron, and cousin Rhonda, and Rhonda's son Gary.  Sylvie warmed immediately up to everyone in typical Sylvie fashion, generously doling out the hugs and the snugs,  It was a nice visit.  Sylvie was particularly excited to come home with a very cool interactive dog/storybook toy, courtesy Rhonda (a/k/a Santa).  Very kind of her!

Shortly after we got home the O'Learys arrived for dinner.  A great time as always, until little Jake took a digger off of Sylvie's footboard, landing on his arm.  As I type he and Trystan are at the emergency room, where X-rays indicate it is a break (his second!). Poor kid. For the record, Syl's footboard is pretty high. The leap he attempted was no joke!

The O'Learys, as usual, over-did in the gift department, seemingly buying out the American Girl store for our little American Girl....

Gram and Gramp head home to Florida tomorrow after a fun visit.  We've enjoyed having them and will miss them - especially Sylvie, who isn't going to know what to do without her playmates!

A day at the maul

The PLAN on Tuesday was to take Sylvie and Grammy to the American Girl store at the Natick Mall, where they could enjoy a girls' lunch at the American Girl cafe, and then perhaps get Sylvie's doll - Willow - a hair styling.

The problem was that half of Metrowest Boston had the same idea.  A 2.5  hour wait for a table at the cafe, and based on the line probably most of that for a hair styling (which, for the record, is ridiculous in concept anyhow).

So Grammy bought Sylvie an American Girl Tiny doll named Samantha, which pleased her no end, and we retreated to the familiar refuge of the Cheesecake Factory for lunch.  A good day, despite the disintegration of the plan.

The mall was also a good place for me to play with my new iPhone fish eye lens...

Crazy Jumping Fairy

Unbelievably, after a long day of museuming Sylvie was still full of energy tonight.  Aunt Mary came over for dinner and was greeted by an insane jumping fairy...

Museum of Science

A lot of the stuff is still too "old" for Sylvie.  And it occurred to me more than once that the advent of the iPad / iPhone, etc pretty immediately rendered obsolete a lot of what not so long ago probably seemed like pretty cutting edge exhibits.  And of course on the first day of Christmas vacation the place was a MOB scene.  But we had a great time at the Museum of Science today nonetheless.

More starting on page 13 (!!) of the December Gallery here.

A good day for cool photos

We went to the Museum of Science today.  More on that in a second... but for whatever reason it turned out to be a really good day for cool photos...

This one might be among my all-time favorites.
