Regression
As part of our revamp of the upstairs we are doing a lot of closet cleaning. In the midst of that yesterday, we found Sylvie in her closet, getting reacquainted with an old friend:

Fun night with Mary Poppins (and the O'Learys)
A fun night at the theater in Boston with the O'Learys as we all headed in to Beantown to take in the Broadway production of Mary Poppings. Sylvie got dressed up in her Mary Poppins coat for the occasion. We did not realize until we got there just how "Mary Poppins" it is! She was super-psyched to see "her coat" on the poster as we entered.
Before the show we met for dinner at Jacob Wirths, a Boston institution. Then it was off to the theater a few blocks away.
The show was excellent, but LONG. 2 hours, 45 minutes. Amazingly, Syl and the rest of the kids were mesmerized the whole time. On the way out, Sylvie told everyone in earshot that her coat is "just like Mary Poppins." She was also very excited to meet a cast member in the lobby. "Were you REALLY in Mary Poppins???"
By the time we got home (10:30 PM), she was sleeping like a rock.

I don't *think* I'm just being a dad...
... when I say that our little girl is getting really, really pretty. It freaks me out a little bit.
I realized this morning that it has been awhile since I just picked up my camera and followed Sylvie around. So I did. She was in a fantastic (and pretty cooperative) mood. I am really pleased with a lot of these. There are more in the February 2011 Gallery too.
As we went through the day today, Syl was a font of three-year-old wisdom. Example (unsolicited - and yes, unprompted by anything I was doing): "Daddy, don't dance when you pee. Ever ever ever!"
Another: "Daddy, you minember (remember) when there was a chicken in the house?" Me: "A chicken in the house?" Syl: "Yeah, it was screaming and screaming at mommy." Me: "The chicken was screaming at mommy?" Syl: "Yeah. It say 'STOP WORKING! STOP WORKING!'"
I promise I did not make that up.
This next one is probably the best "extend the arm, point back and shoot" photo I've ever taken...
After our photo session Syl got into her new ballerina outfit for her friend Avery's (from school) Ballerina Birthday Party. So we had another photo shoot...
At this point I asked Sylvie to "strike a pose." Each of these was her own doing.

The girls' turn
Sylvie and Sydney had a go at "Beauty and the Beast" a couple of weekends back. A little stage fright...

Sylvie's Day in Florida
While her mom and dad were kicking back at the Ritz yesterday for Dad's work conference, Sylvie spent the day boating and pooling with Grammy and Grampy. First, G&G's friends took them for a boat ride on the ocean. Apparently Sylvie's inability to keep a pair of sunglasses on her little face did her in again - the brightness of the day took away some of the fun. But she still had a great time - especially during the stop off on a small island, where Grammy's friend helped Sylvie pick out a shell for Mommy. By the return trip, she was wiped out.
Next stop was Aunt Joanne's place on nearby Marco Island, where Sylvie spent fully an hour and a half in the pool, swimming with Grampy and Aunt Joanne.
Melissa and I were very excited to see Sylvie today, after a couple of nights of much needed R and R. Turns out it was a very good call for all of us to push through the illness last week and make it down here. We needed it! Back tomorrow to the snowy north, where yet another snow storm apparently awaits...
Thanks, Gram and Gramp!
