Holliston Rail Trail fun run

All of these years together, and today was the first time Melissa and I ran a "race" together - the Hollison Rail Trail five mile fun run.

Sylvia and her pals made up a good percentage of the cheering section.

Afterwards we had some of the runners over for pizza and beer... Which made perfect sense at 10:30 am... On a Sunday...

Second day in NYC--second day of fun!

Today we: had breakfast outside at Lincoln Center; went to the butterfly exhibit and the dinosaur section of the Natural History museum; climbed rocks at Central Park; ate lunch at a cute French cafe; went to the top of the Empire State Building; went to Dylan's Candy Bar; went to a new playground at Union Square Park; ate awesome doughnuts at the Doughnuttery; took cabs and rode the subway; walked along the High Line; had yummy Italian dinner; and ended up back at Lincoln Center, where we started. AWESOME.

Disney Slideshow

I finally found time to put the Disney World photos into a slideshow...

First day in NYC with Amanda and Christian

Sylvie and I are in NYC this weekend visiting with Amanda and Christian. (Dan stayed home to get in a solid
weekend of Ironman training.) After taking the train in, we spent most of today exploring Central Park, especially all of the huge rocks for climbing (in Sylvie's case) or sliding down on your bottom and praying that you don't break your leg (in Amanda's and my case). We then had an awesome sushi dinner and ice cream. Sylvie wrapped up her night by convincing Petunia to let Sylvie pet her (possibly Sylvie's favorite part of the day).

First Grade Field Trip

Today Sylvie went to the Aquarium for her first grade field trip. I was a chaperone, which was totally fun and totally exhausting. Fortunately our group was 4 silly and well-behaved girls.

Daisy no more

Anyone who might harbor suspicions that the subcategory "Daisy" was created by the Girl Scouts of America to enlist the services of ever-younger cookie peddlers would have found nothing to disabuse himself of that notion at last night's chaotic "Bridging" ceremony in Holliston, MA. Sylvie for her part had a grand time (even if she didn't actually cross the bridge--the turned and walked off the way she had come)!

In any event, she's a Brownie now. A Brownie who will sell cookies. I never thought about that before.

Jake's First Communion

Another reminder of how nice it is to have such good friends right here in town...

Sylvie finally got some wear out of the dress we got her in Italy last year. She actually got a kick out of going to church as a "peasant girl."

Jake seemed kind of nonplussed by it all.

Family Fitness Night

I'm not sure what this was, but Sylvie seemed to enjoy it...

Happy Mother's Day Mommy Melissa!

We had an awfully nice Mother's Day here in Holliston, starting with a family bike ride.

Someday someone will invent a bike helmet that doesn't make the wearer look like a dork.

Then it was off to Oga's for what has become our traditional Mother's Day lunch. Sylvie Rose and Melissa Rose sat with Rosie Rose.

And Sylvie enjoyed some eda-Mommy (get it?)

Back home, Sylvie had set up a "treasure hunt," with arrows helpfully placed every 1.5 feet so that even Melissa couldn't lose the trail.

Then we headed to Noon Hill for a beautiful spring hike.

Toad!

We were all pretty hot by the time we reached the summit.

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!
