Sylvie had no school today - Patriots Day, one of those idiosyncratic little MA-only holidays. Both Melissa and I had to work, of course. Our little girl was awesome - entertaining herself for hours on end with her drawing and painting (and maybe with a little TV...). So when she walked into the room where I was working in the middle of the afternoon and said with bight-eyed sincerity, "DAD! I have a GREAT IDEA!! We should go to C&L FROSTY!!!" I could hardly say no.
The mercury reached up near 90 today (to the sorrow of many a Boston Marathoner). Sylvie discovered that her favorite mint chocolate chip is somewhat harder to manage when the temp creeps up that high...
Then when I finished my work, Syl and I headed over the Oak Grove for our first visit of the Spring, while Melissa made dinner. Might be one of our last visits too - had the yard measured out for the jungle gym this afternoon!
Syl is counting the days until her cousins arrive now - and breaking those days out into "home days" and "school days" too. Uncle Ben, Aunt Lia, Grandma and Grandpa: she's excited to see you too. But she's SUPER-excited to see Aya and Stevie - especially since the girls established via video-chat this weekend that they will both be sleeping in Sylvie's bed.

He Blinded Her With Science
The "he"in question is Uncle Pat, who bought Sylvie a "Mind Blowing Science" kit for her (what...) second or third birthday (?). We finally brought it out this afternoon, and Syl had a GREAT time mixing the various "chemicals" (water, baking soda, citric acid, beet powder) to make all sorts of colors (some fizzy, some not). Thanks Uncle Pat!! and Aunt Kem... though somehow we suspect Pat was responsible for this particular purchase...

Exciting Shopping
Usually neither Sylvie nor her dad is up for shopping. This morning, however, we were both "SO 'cited!!!" to head on over to Creative Playthings to pick out a play set for the back yard. Installation slated for the 26th, when her cousins will be here for the inaugural play session!
New Strawberry Fashion
Fairy
Her teachers have started saying things to Melissa like, "you know Holliston has an excellent art program..."

Mer-Man
What I like most about Syl's continuously-evolving art is that each new variation is coming right out of her own head. Today, it is a 'mer-man'. Tomorrow, who knows?

Good press week - Boston Business Journal and Boston Magazine
Got a good profile in this week's edition of the Boston Business Journal. Unfortunately the BBJ - even online - is strictly subscription-only. Did my best with a photocopy... Full text of the interview below. A few of the answers are kind of awkwardly paraphrased but I was really pleased with how it came out. Clicking on the pages below will open them larger in another window (I think).
And here's the full text, slightly more legibly (sorry for the weird formatting - BBJ really makes this difficult!:
And then today I got the nice surprise of a cool little plug in Boston Magazine's semi-annual "Power List" issue. If you read too fast you'll miss it, but it comes in the middle of the second "case study" at this link.

Easter Sundae
Easter Fashion
Sylvie's Easter outfit (thanks Grammy!) was the hit of St. Mary's - the 11:30 mass anyhow. Note the poses. We think she gets that from the snippets of Project Runway and the like that she catches when Melissa is watching.
