Hiking Trip: Back end of Day One - Arizona and a taste of Utah

After lunch on Monday we buckled up for the long drive through a corner of Nevada, a piece of Arizona, and into Utah. Luckily, the road scenery was Uh-MAZE-ing! Syl was great about taking photos, but  honestly she could have taken one per mile without a bad one.

I say again, the world is just BIGGER out there.

Finally, after a long drive and a not-insignificant wait in line at the gate, we made it into Zion National Park, truly a spectacular (if crowded) place.

I liked this shot - reflection in the car window.

After driving through the park we emerged on the East side and were almost immediately at the Zion Mountain Ranch, our home for both Monday and Wednesday nights.

It is a beautiful place on the edge of the park; a working ranch, with all variety of animals, a bunch of very cool cabins, and a fantastic restaurant where we enjoyed Bison bolognese and salads, before a well-earned night's sleep.
