The rink is(n't) ready!!!

I figured that with several way below freezing nights, the back yard rink was probably ready for use. And at least at first it seemed I was right!

Bruschi is just perplexed by the whole thing. Neither he nor Soph shows any interest at all in venturing onto the ice.

About an hour after this bucolic scene, Sylvie talked Melissa and me onto the ice... at which point we learned the hard way that the foot-deep water was not even close to frozen through. I expect to get feeling back in my toes sometime this evening.
