Lunch in the City!

Very glad to have Sylvie and Melissa come to Boston for lunch today! Syl was most pleased to find my office walls adorned with dozens of pictures of her. Now we're at Boston landmark Ned Devine's for - what else? - a grilled cheese (with stretchy cheese!).

No Guinness, sadly...

Anyone want a dog? Slightly used / smelly

For the second time in a month, last night we were awakened in the wee hours by a cacophony of barking outdoors, followed shortly by the overpowering stench of a ticked off skunk.  Turns out neither Pax nor the local skunk community learned their lessons the last time they tangled.

To make matters worse (for Pax in particular), this morning I discovered that last night's battle took place in the middle of the flower bed I spent three hours planting this weekend.

I gave Pax (who was again not hit directly, by the way.  Apparently the skunk in question, in addition to being stupid, has poor aim) a piece of my mind this morning.  Sylvie promptly and appropriately gave me a guilt trip about it.  Walking down the stairs, I brushed past Pax and mumbled something gruff, like "get out of the way, flower-killer."  Sylvie paused, gave Pax a pat on the head, and said, "I sorry daddy mean to you."

So the house stinks, the flowers look like they were attacked with an electric mixer, and somehow I come out of it feeling 'this big.'

Sylvie's Gang

It looks like the chicken pox are going to keep Sylvie away from what was supposed to be her first full day in the preschool room at daycare (Melissa is touching base with them this morning to see what the guidelines are for CP, now that the vaccine renders it so much less an issue).

Melissa called this morning, and they said so long as the pocks had dried up (they have), she was good to go.  So Sylvie successfully 'graduated' into Preschool One this morning.  She has a number of her erstwhile toddler buddies going with her, so the transition shouldn't be too tough.

The move into a new room also means an end to the weekly updates we'd enjoyed getting from Sylvie's toddler room teachers.  Last weeks' installment had an excellent group photo that we'll want to keep.  Sylvie's first peer group:

Maybe we should start a farm stand...

Feeling Better

Syl felt well enough to spend some time outside and indulge her dad's need to take some fair weather photos.  She's still a little schizo (crazy happy and then hysterically upset), but spent a good deal of time outdoors before a long nap.  We did some rock climbing, and then she helped me pump the tires in her stroller - which has come into newly renewed favor all of a sudden, perhaps due to the lethargy...

Every once in a while lately...

I get a shot that kind of smacks me in the face with how fast our little girl is growing up... and how much of a handful we're going to have not too far down the road.

Ice cream makes everything better

Sylvie is still kind of under the weather, but she felt good enough today to ask if we could go get some ice cream...

Pals in the grass

Syl still has her pocks, but they don't seem to be getting worse. She got a new Patriots jersey at the store this morning, and is sporting it while hanging out in the grass with Pax while her mom and dad plant mums. Best photo I've ever taken with my Blackberry...
