We had a nasty, incredibly fast-moving storm this week. It whipped through our back yard and took down about a dozen trees (three of which could have easily crunched the house, but didn't). Meanwhile, the front yard was totally untouched. Even the styrofoam gravestones were intact. Wild what nature does.
Our path to the rail trail was blocked in four places by downed trees.
And here are some shots of the ones that could have nailed the house.
The fence got the worst of it. Second time in a year for this stretch.
Meanwhile, out and about, autumn was in enough glory that I got out the real camera and went wandering.
Melissa and I took another nice hike this afternoon. Same place in Concord.
Walden is nice, but very naggy.
We met this little rule-breaker. His very presence is an offense.
Back home, my neighbor, Mike, and I had a chainsaw party on the trail.
No question why this one came down. Between the woodpeckers and the termites and the ants, it cored out.
Mexican in Cambridge for dinner to take advantage of an unseasonably warm evening. The group at the table next to use featured friendly folk from Cleveland AND Holliston!
