First full day in Venezia

What a magical city. Today we had a city tour led by Elena, a lifetime Venetian with a real passion for her home.

At the risk of stating the obvious, there are no cars in Venice. So a tour meant another boat.

Sylvie has taken to iPhone photography.

Four generations!

Our boat took us on a brief detour to the island of Moreno, where this guy's family is on generation seven of glass-blowing. Sylvie was blown away watching him transform a bulb of molten glass into a beautiful wine pitcher in less than 15 minutes.

And then the girls helped Grandma pick out a set of tumblers. Functional art!

Back in Venice, another lunch meant another bowl of pasta with pesto. The kid is going to bleed olives and garlic by the end of this trip.

After lunch, I grabbed another great run.

And then we headed to the top of the bell tower in Piazza San Marco.

At night, Grandma and Grandpa were kind enough to babysit while the four of us went to this tiny little 16 seat restaurant called CoVino for a spectacular meal.

Shockingly, Grandma and Grandpa treated  Syl to a gelato!
