She also played out this hilarious little routine at each house that could have been scripted by Saturday Night Live. She was consistently polite: "Happy Halloween! Trick or Treat! Thank you!" But she was unable to close the transaction. The person at the door would compliment her costume, and she'd say "thank you!" They'd give her candy, and she'd say the same. They'd say "have a nice night!" or "Happy Halloween!" and she'd echo them. But she'd just stand there, smiling up at them. They'd say, "Okay, have a good time!" and she'd answer, "Thanks" and continue just smiling up at them. It became a hilarious test: which neighbors could bring themselves to close the door in a sweet little girl's face. Some of them managed it, awkwardly. Others just continued the awkward back-and-forth until finally I yelled from the street, "Okay Sylvie, wrap it up now!"

Now for the real thing
Someone was pretty excited to again don her Candy Corn Witch costume and hit the streets last night...
Sylvie and I went out solo and she made me stay at the end of the driveway at each house, leading to some funny exchanges: "Are you... ALONE?"
