Had to happen

I enjoyed playing artiste at Daddy's Salon, but all the Covid Color Craziness with Syl's hair really took its toll.

Yikes!

But nothing a haircut couldn't fix. Long overdue, and very cute.

February Art

People on Facebook are starting to ask about BUYING Syl's work!

This first one is simple, but sweet. For MLK Day, Syl's homeroom were instructed to decorate a "candle" for "someone who inspires you." Syl chose her Aunt Willow because, as she told me, "Aunt Willow is creative and sweet and is the kind of person I want to be." Talk about a compliment!

Not sure what is going on with this one...

On her ipad, Syl took the characters from one of her favorite anime shows and drew them "like they'd look in real life.

These are random pages from her sketchbook. Syl isn't thrilled when I leaf through it, but I am fascinated by what I find in there.

These two look like trouble...

Even Sylvie gets the Blues

But only in her hair!

After pink, purple, and now blue Syl's hair is turning a very dead looking grey... so it looks like it is finally time to chop her COVID tresses.

Daddy's Salon has been fun, though!

On the brighter side...

My first "virtual" awards ceremony had an unexpected and gratifying end earlier this month. This was the result of a whole ton of my colleagues taking a minute to go online and vote for me, which is pretty much the nicest kind of recognition in my book.

Dumb in the Snow

Turns out, if you road bike on a day when water tends to freeze, eventually Darwin takes notice.

First ambulance ride, first neck collar. Lots of pain.

Nothing broken. Two weeks later now, it also looks like nothing was torn. A little better every day. I cannot quite get back on the bike yet, but getting there. Indoors for now...

It was darned cold in that ER. Good thing I, er, wore my sweater.

Fun in the snow

There has been snow on the ground more or less consistently for all of February. Melissa has barely ventured outdoors since returning from Hawaii, but Syl, the dogs and I have spent a lot of time enjoying the white stuff.

All of that play tuckers the B Man out.

Sophie, Staring

No, I didn't lose my camera (or my phone) for a month. I did fall behind though! Some catch ups from the February that was...

First, Soph is getting a little weird - and a little creepy - in her old age. We keep entering a room to find her already there, usually backed into a corner, just staring.

Worse, we frequently look out the window to find her outside, just staring... frequently right at us. This is particularly creepy in the dark.
