Syl's Eye View of Camp

There were no electronics allowed at Overland, but cameras were an exception. Here are the photos Syl snapped.

This is Sydney from Texas, who apparently was Syl's best Overland pal.

This is Kate from New York. She wasn't.

Syl's leaders all said the same thing to us: "She's so POLITE!"

Until next year, Overland!

Overland Pickup

Syl had a GREAT time at camp. "Oh, I absolutely LOVED it!" The running description of each day that we got on the way home was the most exposition we have gotten from her in a long time. Maybe ever. She is pretty beat, but seems to have really had a wonderful experience.

She really loved her three group leaders, and seemed to have gotten along well with all the kids but for one girl, who we got an earful about.

For our part, we are glad she is home!

On the way home we spied a sign that said "Bridge of Flowers, 1/2 mile," so we took a detour into Greenfield, which is a very cute little town.

In the last leg, Syl conked out.

Camp photos

I have no context, but these were just posted on the Overland site. Looks like she is having fun!

Off to Camp!

I can't say it was easy driving away from Williams College today after dropping Syl off for a week of hiking, camping, and rafting with the Overland program. Or, more precisely, I cannot say it was easy on Melissa and me. It seemed PLENTY easy for Syl, who was a bit edgy all morning but cottoned to her three delightful trip leaders right away and seemed more than ready for a goodbye hug not a minute after we joined her group.

The house is going to seem so empty this week!

Trampoline!

Santa brought this... it took a while to get it set up....

Artist for a Day

With the kids feeling better but still a little green, the gals opted for a low-key outing yesterday—painting pottery.

Syl comes by her goofy looks in photos naturally.
