Downloaded a new app to my phone yesterday and used it to make this time-lapse of our before bed dance party. Never cease to be amazed by these little miracle machines we carry in our pockets.

Walk in the Wood, Part Deux
Oak Grove this time. Another beautiful day. Brought the real camera along this time.
The caption of this last one is: "Dad, this says 'this way for people who want get eaten...' Let's go the other way."

A walk in the woods
It occurred to me yesterday, abruptly, that Sylvie is probably old enough now to enjoy brief hikes. So in lieu of our ordinary nice day trip to the playground, we headed to Noon Hill. Our hike elicited a little bit of melancholy--Pax did so love his hikes at Noon Hill. But Sophie proved herself a worthy successor, bolting way ahead and then bolting straight back at us, just like Pax used to do. Sylvie pronounced the preserve "beautiful" and later thanked me for taking her "on an adventure." I think we may go back today.

Fairy dog
Sylvie finally found a friend willing to play dress up any time (and Sophie is going for the 'most compliant dog ever' crown)...
Girl's best friend
Sylvie still has the same moderate fever this morning. A good indicator of how she is feeling is the fact that she put herself down on the couch for a little nap - something she never does. A couple of minutes after I snapped the first shot I went back in the room to see that her new best friend had taken up her favorite position.

Beautiful
Every now and again I kid myself that I am a decent photographer, as opposed to someone who takes an ungodly number of photos and occasionally lucks into a gem. Then I see some shots like these, by Willow's main photographer Donovan Fannon, and my illusions are dispelled. How beautiful are these? And how much joy and wonder did they capture in Syl's little face?
And how much does Uncle Kit look like a Secret Service agent?

Sick again!
Sylvie had another low fever (along with a headache and sore throat) today, so she stated home with me and Sophie. Since she hadn't eaten anything since this morning, I agreed to her dinner requests: soy ice sandwich, microwave popcorn left over from Grammy and Grampy's last visit, and water with ice in a pink sippy cup. I'm definitely not winning mother of the year for 2013!
