FALLing Behind

Between the campaign and work I've fallen WAY behind on my photos and video.  I'd hoped to catch up this weekend. They impulse rented an AWESOME lake house in Maine for the weekend, so we're headed up there tomorrow - no doubt I'll come back even further behind...

In the meantime, here are a few of many good photos from our annual apple picking trip to Belkin Farm with the O'Learys last weekend.

She's a political phenomenon!

Check out the seventeen second point of this Charlie Baker campaign video.  Even Syl's mom looks like she was enjoying the parade!

Another milestone of sorts

Last week while picking Sylvie up from daycare, Melissa was surprised to learn from the class biography collage that Sylvie has apparently designated hamburgers as her very favorite food.  This was particularly unexpected since, to our knowledge, Sylvie had never actually agreed to try a bite of hamburger.

So yesterday we asked her, "do you want to go get a hamburger for lunch?" To which she responded with an enthusiastic, "yes! they my favorite!"  Rather than subject her to the real deal at the local brew pub, we decided Burger King - with the attendant possibility of a playground bribe - might work best.

And so it is that Sylvie consumed her first hamburger - a cheeseburger, really - this weekend.

I have to admit, Syl's newfound fondness for cow wasn't nearly so surprising as the discovery that veggie burgers are available at Burger King.  Melissa was pleased.  I was a little appalled.

Hanging out with Cousin Aya

Cousin Aya and her folks came to the parade and then spent some time at the house before joining us for lunch at the Noon Hill Grille.  Good times all around.  Sylvie especially enjoyed wrestling with/riding her Uncle Ben.  Of course she  had grilled cheese for lunch, and some of the pasta that Aya passed up.

I got a lot of cute photos of Aya and Syl.  As has been the case their whole co-lives, though, they resisted posing for a perfect shot of the two of them together...  Some of the good ones below.  More (and more of the parade) in the September Gallery.

All of this crazy excitement didn't end Sylvie's day, by the way.  She also had her very first "sleep over" (kinda).  We went to a movie (The Town - pretty good) with the O'Learys last night.  Sylvie hung out with Madeline and Jake, and her old teacher Patty, at the O'Learys' house.  When we got back, Sylvie was snoozing... in Madeline's bed!  Typical Madeline - she gave Syl her bed and took the mattress on the floor.

Sylvie for Baker

Sylvie took to the campaign trail again yesterday, marching with Dad in the Celebrate Holliston parade along with Dad's friend Charlie Baker (the next Governor of Massachusetts, by the way).  Syl got decked out in do-it-yourself Charlie wear, assumed her position on Dad's shoulders, and enthusiastically yelled "VOTE FOR CHARLIE!" to the many parade spectators (including Mommy, Uncle Ben, Aunt Lia, and Cousin Aya).

At Celebrate Holliston Sylvie picked up a temporary tattoo (her first and last!) and some semi-permanent face paint to complement her Charlie wear.

She's pretty sure today's Boston Globe poll showing Charlie even with the incumbent for the first time is a direct result of her efforts...

Sylvie in September

Every once in a while I like to do these comparison posts.  Amazing how they grow...

Thanks for the visit, Gram and Gramp!

Sylvie had a great time with Grammy and Grampy Haley, who headed home to Florida yesterday.  She's been asking for them since, particularly at bedtime when she pines for another run through Cinderella with Grammy.  A few photos below, more in the September Gallery.

Pals

Always good to have the O'Learys around.  Tonight they joined us for dinner.  Syl had a great time - so much so that by bedtime she was a screeching, blubbering, flailing mess of a little two year old...

More in the September Gallery, of course...
