Hitting the sack

11:30pm, and my daughter and I are sitting on the steps of my junior year dorm, looking out over Middlebury's campus. Just picked her up from the sitter, and despite her insistence that she wants to go to 'a party,' we're going to bed. This moment, though, is pretty cool.

The class picnic was a bust, so Syl and I have retired to a downtown Middlebury tavern. She's being a real trooper (so far). Dad isn't doing much reuniting, but we're having an excellent Dad/daughter adventure in a beautiful place.

Future classmates?

His name is Ian. They are now friends.

... And none too happy about it! Weather is cooperating though, for now!

Dad and Syl's Excellent Adventure, stop one

Rochester Cafe on the way to Middlebury. Mom got saddled with a whole bunch of work, so it's just the two of us this weekend. Going to be interesting...!

Beck!

Tonight Sylvie was beside herself with excitement at the arrival of Beck Hamilton, Mom and Dad's God Son from CO (Boden's little brother). Beck is accompanied by his pop, Matt. His mom and big bro are following tomorrow. We're all meeting up at Middlebury on Saturday morning for Dad & Matt's 15th (!!!) college reunion. Then the Hamiltons are staying with us for a couple of nights next week. Syl is most pleased at this news.

For his part, Beck is tired from travel and not quite sure how to interpret Sylvie's exuberance. A joint tooth-brushing seemed to break the ice though.

Bubbling Brook

Like mother like daughter. Syl thought she wanted 'chock-lit' at Bubbling Brook ice cream this afternoon. One look at mommy's vanilla with cherry dip, though, and... Well, mommy is enjoying her chocolate.
