DC with athena, again!

I love my current job, but I do miss doing the DC thing. Luckily, a couple times a year I get drafted back into service for a "lobby day" with some of our business partners. Always a great time, and always a learning experience.

This was my group. They are pretty badass. They may know it.

athena's CEO is a bit of a madman... never more so than in DC.

This is my government affairs team (aka, the whipper-snappers who took my old job!). Do you think they feel pretty cool getting off the company jet?

South Central Park

Cousin? Check. Shady bench? Check. Good book? Check!

Cedar Point

Sunny and in the low 80s--perfect weather for visiting Cedar Point, not great for taking open-eyes photos of kiddos at Cedar Point!

We all had a blast, including the skeptics (I'm looking at you, Grandma Lynne and Uncle Ben).

If U2 can pretend it is still the 1990s

A bunch of Middlebury friends flew in this weekend to attend the U2 Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary (!!!) show at Gillette.

First we spent a really nice evening with the kids at the O'Leary's as a warmup.

We look just the same as we did in college. Right?

The next day, we rented a 15 passenger van, tailgated for hours, and then enjoyed the heck out of a really great show!

That little guy up there is Bono.

Davis Farmland = kid heaven

Today Lia, Ben, Aya, Steven, Maylin, Syl and I headed to beautiful Sterling, MA for the best kid activity place I know--Davis Farmland.

We started out by meeting the kittens and bunnies up for adoption.

All of the kids then enjoyed feeding and petting the animals, especially the super gentle baby goats.

This sheep liked Ben. He stood and stared at Ben for a good 10 minutes. Ben was not willing to extend his hand in friendship, though.

The kiddos also enjoyed the giant slide.

There is also an awesome splash pad, but I forgot to take photos of that. Head to Ben and Lia's blog for those!

Trek Across Maine, Take 4

One of the absolute best things about working at athenahealth is the annual Trek Across Maine--a three-day, 180 (or so) mile ride from Sunday River to Belfast (where our second largest office is located). This year 190 athenistas rode (down temporarily from our high of 210 last year!)

Such a great time, and each year I get to meet and spend time with colleagues who I'd never have the opportunity to know otherwise. It is tough being away from Melissa and Syl for three nights, and sometimes tough to ride in the nasty weather, but I look forward to this every year and will do it as long as I'm able.

Acton Art show

We spent part of our Sunday at Acton Art where the students' best work of the year was on display. Man, there are some talented kids out there!

For her contribution, Syl chose a stylized zebra that she created a few months back.

We are so proud of our little artist!
