Of course it wasn't all beach walking. Leisure was high on the agenda.

Sylvie is REALLY into her Kindle these days, and enjoyed catching quiet moments... including first thing in the morning, before her dad was even out of bed.

Virgin strawberry daquiris were a favorite.

There's that Kindle again...

Beach Walkers

We spent a LOT of time walking the beach (which is 12 miles long and just incredibly beautiful.

Once Sylvie learned it was socially acceptable to pee in the ocean she got really into it... though she wasn't exactly subtle.

Scenes from Turks & Caicos

Or as Sylvie might call it, "Tookie Cuckoos," or "Tucky Cackles," or whatever weird permutation might enter her head... Oddly, it wasn't until we'd left that she managed to recall with any regularity what the place was called.

That might be because we didn't tell her where we were going until we were landing and she looked out the window and exclaimed, "We're going to PARADISE!!!!" That was pretty cool.

We stayed at Beaches, which among other things has the virtue of being extremely adult- and child-friendly at the same time. No easy feat. The place was really, really incredible.

Our room had an awesome ocean view, and was literally steps from both the beach and a huge pool.

We completely lucked out. Apparently "low season" in the Caribbean is low season for a reason. One day earlier and our flight would certainly have been canceled due to Hurricane Matthew (which just barely missed these islands. Tip: the best way to get an 8 year old to have to go to the bathroom on a plane is to fly past a hurricane. Turbulence = bathroom emergency, guaranteed.

I have a feeling that the real world tomorrow will be a rough readjustment.

1. Ice cream

2.  The water park strut

3.  Kid strawberry daiquiris

And of course every kid's dream...

4.  Water aerobics with mom and a bunch of other moms and grandmas

A pretty good photographer!

Emma and I are doing another nutrition/ fitness challenge through the dance studio where I teach. Today we were supposed to hold a plank. Syl documented my effort. She's a pretty good little photographer!

We made it!

Somehow we made it to the Turks & Caicos despite the terrible weather this week. And it has been GREAT! Dan will do a blog post later with "real" camera photos, but for now you're stuck with me. :)

Syl got up early enough to enjoy the whole pool to herself...

Monday = Funday

The girls had the day off of school for Rosh Hashana, so we headed to Fun & Games, an old-school arcade, for a bit of friendly competition.

Then we made a special trip back in the direction of the old 'hood for lunch at an enduring favorite, C&L Frosty.

Multi-tasking

Fish beware

Sylvie Rose Haley, scourge of unborn salmon and flying fish everywhere.
