Day 2 in Positano

This morning after an awesome breakfast we headed out for "a short hike."  We walked up 2000 stairs to the village of Nocelle, and then headed out on what we thought was the renowned "Path of the Gods." One mountain climb later we realized we'd made a wrong turn. After a fabulous lunch in Nocelle we stumbled on the real Path of the Gods and decided to give it a go. The upshot is that we literally hiked for 8 hours today, climbing and descending two mountains in the process. These photos do not begin to capture it.

You can just make out our hotel in the lower left of this one, taken from far above...

A good way to end the week

Sylvie had a good week and has been a real champ with Mom and Dad gone. We celebrated with Table Top pizza, root beer and a visit from Alex and his mom. Can you believe that Sylvie and Alex finished a whole small cheese pizza ( except for 1 piece)?

It must run in the family

Not only is Melissa a great cook, Dan an amazing photographer and Sylvie a wonderful artist- look how talented Sophie is!

This place

Rainy arrival day, but this place is amazing.

Safe in Positano

After an 11 hour trip we have safely arrived in what surely must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

This was waiting on the terrace off our hotel room:

And this surprise from our sweet little girl was in Melissa's suitcase!

We are doing our best to stay awake until a respectable dinner hour, and then will most definitely crash hard. Exploring Positano tomorrow, a proposition that entails a day of stair climbing (the whole town is built on the side of a cliff).

Marathon Donor thank you party

Last night we hosted about 40 of the wonderful folks who have supported my Dana Farber fundraising over the past year. The camera didn't come out until toward the end of the night, when the karaoke machine was fired up...

A final thank you to everyone who has contributed. If you couldn't make it last night, I'll thank you another way!

Mother's Day Dinner

At Mommy's favorite: Oga's.

Between the roe and the sashimi, Sylvie is the scourge of salmon everywhere. I also don't know how she could be my kid. Yeeeeesh.

Happy Mother's Day moms!

Strange things happen when we visit Connecticut

We headed down to Chester, CT on Friday night to join Jeff and Allison for a "Masquerade Party" that some of Allison's friends set up at a local country club. If that sounds a little weird... it was a LOT weird.

For her part, Sylvie enjoyed staying over night at Sydney and Alex's grandparents house.
