Carnival!

For certain one of Sylvie's favorite times of year - Carnival week in Holliston!

Play Date!!!

These days, for whatever reason, kids don't just "come over to play," like they did in my day.  Now it has to be a "play date."  Melissa put some planning into today's play date with Sylvie's friend from school, Paige, partly because Paige's mom had confided that this would be the young lady's first such excursion...

This, needless to say, is Paige.

After some preliminary play, the girls got to put the toppings on their own pizzas.  The both opted for the white pizza (no sauce).

Then it was on to the real exciting part: cupcake decorating (Syl and Melissa pre-made the cupcakes yesterday).

A nice day for some driveway drawing...

And a REAL nice day for popsicles! Though isn't every day a real nice day for popsicles, when you come right down to it?

Sylvie's Face Today

Every now and again I get the urge to ask Syl to come into the living room where the lighting is good and let me just take a bunch of photos of her little face.  She cooperated today.  Caught a lot of personality in about a minute and thirty seconds...

Second swimming lesson

This is pretty much the story (verbatim) of Sylvie's second swimming lesson this morning....

New skills and perspectives

After months of drawing beds (many, many beds) from an above perspective, Sylvie abruptly changed her point of view.  See below, and note her triple window in the background.

This second one really gets me.  Not only has she taught herself how to draw "puffy" letters - she's turning the letters of her name into whimsical little mini-pictures.  The S is a snake, the I an ice cream cone, and the A.... is the artist.  She cracks me up.

Hammock

The combination of the sunshine and the mood Sylvie was in prompted me to run for my "real" camera this afternoon while we were hanging out in the hammock...

I'm enjoying Syl's reflective glasses...
